David Brockie, better known as Oderus Urungus, passed away in March 2014.
The details surrounding the death of Gwar lead-singer David Brockie's March 23 death have been revealed. The State Examiner of Brockie's home state of Virginia has revealed that the 50-year old suffered an accidental heroin overdose, reports CBS. The band will be holding a public memorial for Brockie at their annual Gwar-B-Q, held August 16 in Richmond, Virginia, and also hope to build him a monument somewhere in the city.
Gwar fans were shocked when the news of Brockie's death was released by the band's manager, Jack Flanagan.
The manager's statement read: "It is with a saddened heart, that I confirm my dear friend Dave Brockie, artist, musician, and lead singer of GWAR passed away at approximately 6:50 p.m. EST Sunday, March 23, 2014. His body was found Sunday by his bandmate at his home in Richmond, VA. Richmond authorities have confirmed his death and next of kin has been notified. A full autopsy will be performed.

According to reports by the site TMZ Brockie was found sitting in a chair. While there was was evidence of heroin involvement at the time, until now it remained only speculation.
In 2013, the band released their 13th album, Battle Maximus, and this year would have been their 30th anniversary.
