Haçienda Classical delivers atmospheric dance music to Dublin this December.
On Saturday, 17 December, Haçienda Classical pairs with the RTE Concert Orchestra for an unforgettable night of euphoric songs at the 3Arena. Hit tracks from the heyday of the legendary nightclub will be given a runout with an orchestral reinterpretation of tunes that defined a dance era.
The Haçienda nightclub, founded in the early 1980s by Factory Records, Tony Wilson, Rob Gretton, and New Order, quickly transformed dance and indie music in Manchester. Back when the city was known as "Madchester," the club helped give rise to the alternative rock and electronic dance music scene of the 80s and 90s, with the acid house days going down in history.
And while our own RTE Concert Orchestra are probably a bit removed from all that carry on, they've covered everything from Lord of the Rings scores to classical football anthems in the past – with their version of 90s classics under the direction of Jenny Greene winning many plaudits at Electric Picnic.
Alongside the two tuneful collectives, the AMC Gospel Choir will perform with Guests New Order's Peter Hook and Happy Mondays' Rowetta. DJ legend Graeme Park will also DJ live during the concert.
