The Blind Pig Speakeasy witnessed another sublime collaboration between Hot Press and Paddy's Share Irish Whiskey
Having made its thrilling. debut a fortnight earlier in Galway’s Liquor Lounge, the Dare To Share action switched to the Blind Pig Speakeasy, that most secretive of Dublin cocktail bars, which rolled out the red carpet, and them some, for the lucky sixty invitees.
Could the latest musical collaboration between Hot Press and Paddy’s Share conjure up the same elusive magic that occurred in the City of the Tribes?
HamsandwicH, Caoi de Barra and Shobsy's heavenly harmonies on their opening ensemble cover of Philo’s ‘Old Town’ answered that question with a resounding “Yes!”
Once again, their sharing of songs – and the stories behind them – proved to be an absolute joy with artists and crowd alike perma-grinning their way through the near ninety minute set. Musical chemistry like this can't be manufactured – it either happens or it doesn't, and tonight it happened in spades.
Among those throwing shapes were Caoi's Wyvern Lingo bandmates Karen Cowley and Saoirse Duane; Rich 'Bitter Roc' O'Connor who told us he has a new album on the way; singer-songwriter Eoin Glackin; and HamsandwicH manager Stevo Berube, who's currently plotting his charges' twentieth birthday celebrations – stay tuned to hotpress.com for details!

As in Galway, the highlights came thick and fast, with Shobsy and Caoi’s ‘Full Moon In Virgo’; Ms. de Barra’s solo ‘Skirting Board Bonfire’; HamSandwicH’s ‘Ants’; and the collective versions of Wyvern Lingo’s ‘I Love You, Sadie’, Kate Bush’s 'Running Up That Hill', and Donna Summers’s ‘I Feel Love’ among your humble correspondent’s favourite moments.
Add in the seriously tasty Paddy’s Irish Whiskey Highballs, Sours and Old Fashioneds shaken, muddled and stirred up by the Blind Pig mixologists, and this was a gig that will linger long in Dublin rock ‘n’ roll lore!
