Harper Lee
At this stage, BBC Sound Of longlisters Little Green Cars need no introduction, so I’ll snap right to it; with songs like the irresistibly punchy ‘Harper Lee’ in their inventory, they could happily supersede the success of any other act at Glassnote records, a roster that includes such chart-topping overachievers as Mumford & Sons, Phoenix and Two Door Cinema Club. Presumably inspired by the novelist of the same name, ‘Harper Lee’ is an instantly singable, folk-tinged triumph, which makes clever use of vocalist Stevie Appleby’s shaky croon and the baby-faced fivesome’s knack for an unstoppable alt. pop chorus.
