Hayden Thorpe releases latest single 'The Universe is Always Right' alongside his announcement of an upcoming second album
Former Wild Beasts frontman, Hayden Thorpe took to social media on Tuesday to announce the upcoming release of his second solo album, which will be called Moondust for my Diamond. The album will be released on October 15. To whet appetites for what is to come, Thorpe's first single from the album, 'The Universe is Always Right' is available now.
This new record follows Thorpe's 2019 solo debut album Diviner and his sequential 2020 EP Ariel Songs. The new album is conceptual, and asks a lot of questions. In a statement, Thorpe has said, "[the album is about] the meeting point between science and religion, the grand struggle for the reality that shapes so much of our time.”

"I’ve been describing this set of songs as “spirituals for the data age,” he said in a social media post.

“What about nature? What about the cosmos? What about all these things that break through the tyranny of the self? Our sense organs bring the world inside of us after all, I just had to sing it back out. I was enchanted again with the mystery of science and how I might speak from the heart in an age where metric is gospel.”
Of his latest single Thorpe, praises the production input of Bullion (who produced the whole album) and the featured bass playing of Ben Reed. The music video was filmed in the Lake District, not far from Thorpe's native Cumbria. It was directed by Tom Haines.
