Having released their fourth album last February, HEALTH will play The Grand Social on 28th May
Noise rock band HEALTH formed in 2006, emerging from the Los Angeles D.I.Y. scene alongside the likes of No Age, Mika Miko, and Abe Vigoda. The band, which currently consists of Jake Duszik, John Famiglietti and BJ Miller, began, according to Duszik, when the group "just sat in a dark room with no windows and tried to figure out how to write a song."
HEALTH recorded their self-titled 2007 debut album during a sweltering summer locked in legendary L.A. venue The Smell, where they also played many of their first shows. Pitchfork raved that the self mixed, self produced record “mixes the bombastic pound of Boredoms, the skewed structures of Deerhoof, the tribal thump of Liars, and even the synth squirts of Black Dice and Excepter.”
Their following projects consisted of two remix albums, HEALTH//DISCO in 2008 & ::DISCO2 in 2010, collaborating with artists and producers including Crystal Castles, Pictureplane and Nosaj Thing.
HEALTH released their second full-length album, Get Color, in 2009, finding further acclaim with their high-impact sound. After composing the soundtrack for video game Max Payne 3, the band released their first album in 6 years with 2015's DEATH MAGIC, which found the band venturing into new pop-inflected territories.
Their latest album, Vol. 4 :: Slaves of Fear, was released in February 2019 via Loma Vista.
