Despite the best efforts of my chosen search engine, I have not yet been able to procure a picture of mysterious Chicagoan Charles Hammond Jr., but I reckon if he looks half as smooth as he sounds, Frank Ocean’s in serious trouble. Mr. Hammond’s debut EP is brimming with confidently put together and beautifully-delivered experimental soul, with flashes of jazz, hip hop and electronica making for terribly interesting listening. A strong, slick, instantly immersing record.
