Limerick's own Hermitage Green are set to play a special one-night hometown gig this July.
Hermitage Green are one of the most popular groups to come out of Limerick in recent years. Getting their start in Limerick's pub scene, the band's unique sound and arrangements, which feature bodhrán, djembe, rhythmic guitar and banjo, have set them apart as a truly original offering in the world of Irish music. Signing to SONY Ireland, the band released their first full length album, Save Your Soul, in 2016. In his review for Hot Press, Colm O'Regan described the bands unique sound and soaring ambitions: "they bring a broad world music sensibility to bear on a debut studio album that opens modestly – and is soon reaching for the stars". With production from Matt Lawrence, who has worked with Adele, Amy Winehouse and Mumford & Sons, their most recent 2017 EP, 'Gold and Rust' also received critical acclaim. Developing a large following in Ireland and internationally, Hermitage Green have performed soul-out shows in the UK, Australia, Middle East and US. The band played King John's Castle last year, and are eager to recreate the magic this summer. Bassist and vocalist Barry Murphy said, "We are delighted to return to King Johns Castle for a hat trick of gigs in our favourite venue in the country".
