We start this issue’s Inside Track with a call to arms from Downtown Radio’s Johnny Hero. Johnny has been asked to organise bands for a series of Friday night gigs – 7 Live – at the Odyssey. He hopes to get two or three bands for each show and is also looking for DJs to spin some indie tunes. Anybody interested or who wants to come down for the grand tour can contact the man himself at [email protected]
In other Northern news The Answer return to after a hectic few months of gigging to entertain domestic fans. The tour includes a pitstop in Cork as part of the Rory Gallagher Homecoming Exhibition at the Triskel Gallery. Check hotpress.com for more dates.
Fellow northerners Manymore have changed their name to Escape Fails. Same lineup, same rocking tunes, just a new moniker. New songs and tour dates are available on http://myspace.com/escapefails.
Music lovers in the Waterford area will be pleased to hear that the Forum plays host to a triple headliner extravaganza on November 10 featuring The Deaf Animal Orchestra, Floyd Soul and the Wolf and Jay Jam Fly Jive. Put it in your diaries now!

Dublin’s Travega recently launched new single ‘The People’ at a packed show in Crawdaddy. The track is taken from the highly-anticipated debut album currently in pre-production. The long-player is being produced by the legendary Garth Richardson (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ozzy Osbourne, Kiss, Alice Cooper, Nikelback and Rage Against The Machine amongst others).

Speaking of debut albums, Kilkenny’s Majella Murphy releases Brave New World on November 3. Majella, who has supported Jamie Cullum in the past, travelled to America to record with legendary producer Nathan Crowe (Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Meat Loaf and Brian May) and Eric Rosse, who produced both of Tori Amos’ Grammy nominated albums. Impressive!
Delorentos are travelling to the US shortly for a show as part of CMJ. They have been confirmed as special guests on the Bell X1 Christmas Tour in November/December along with Simple Kid.
In other tour news, The Immediate will be headlining the 10-date 2FM 2Moro 2our next month with shows in Waterford, Cork, Limerick, Sligo, Galway, Letterkenny, Dundalk, Portlaoise, Mullingar and two in Dublin. Special guests on the tour are Fairuza and Echogram. If you can’t make any of the shows you can tune into Midnight With Dan Hegarty on November 6 to catch them live in session on 2FM.
Fionn Regan also has a slew of nationwide dates coming up at the end of November. Top tune ‘Be Good Or Be Gone’ was recently featured in an episode of Grey’s Anatomy (Series 3 Episode 5) shown in the US. Irish viewers will have to wait! The wonderful album The End Of History is out now on Heffa and if you haven’t got a copy shame on you!
