Seasons don't change, they just get busier...
We are well and truly into the month of July which means Ibiza season is in full swing. Irish promoters and artists are making noise on the White Isle this year. Alan Keane has launched his Indicate imprint and Donnacha Costello has announced a new album.
I caught up with Eoin Smyth who takes care of operations, marketing and management of Safehouse events in Ibiza. They are responsible for Carl Cox Tuesdays at Space, whose theme this year is "Music is Revolution". Safe house have also added We Love...Sundays (also at Space)to their game plan for the summer.
They've launched a daytime concept called STRIPPED, which is basically a 4:30 PM throwdown on the Space Sunset terrace with the goal being to bring back the original Space daytime vibe from years gone by Other than that, they will host events at sands throughout the summer, as well as their Shhh... Ibiza secret after-hours which kicked off after Coxy's closing last year in Plan Be. Busy busy!
I spoke with Mark Gill who has taken his Room 19 project to Ibiza this summer. They kicked off on July 9 with Sheffield based Ryad to bring a day party to Savannah, San Antonio. Line-up for the summer parties are yet to be released but keep an eye on their Facebook page for further announcements. At home Room19 team up with Twin to bring techno whizz Scuba to tThe Twisted Pepper, Dublin on July 25.
Richie Hawtin's Enter parties kicked off in Space onJuly 3. Ireland's favourite minimalist Matador plays on July 10, August 14 and September 25 alongside Richie and Chris Liebing. Berlin-based Irish producer Mano Le Tough plays on August 7 and September 4. Enter released a four disc music CD featuring contributions from Matador, Bella Sarris, Matthew Hawtin and Apollonia. All in all, a good season for the Irish in Ibiza this summer.

Now to turn our attention to Ireland's producers and labels. Alan Keane has released his first EP under his Pusher alias on his new label Indicate. It's available on vinyl from All City Records, Dublin and from August 4 on Beatport. Irish label signal Code released a Various Artists EP on June 7. It's a vinyl-only release featuring Costelloe, Duplex, Mark Du Mosch and ESS and can be picked up at the clone.nl website.
Donnacha Costello has announced that he will be releasing his Love From Dustalbum later on this year. Donnacha has been releasing records since 1996 and has proved to be one of Ireland's great electronic music exports. Interestingly. Donnacha has been on the waiting list for an EMS Synthi A since 201. After 13 years of patience, his Synthi is finally being built and will be in his hands this summer, just in time for his album. Serendipity, indeed.
In terms of clubbing; July 11 sees Sunil Sharpe return to the Pavillion in Cork with Bastardo Electrico. On July 12, Mano Le Tough plays Crystal Nightclub in Waterford with Re:Publik while in the Dublin Button Factory and Building Society presents Ejeca in the Twisted Pepper on the other side of the Liffey.
On July 18, Gavin Clarke from UNKLE delivers a rare live performance alongside Nick Hemming and Helen Whitaker of The Leisure Society in the DublinButton Factory. In addition to that, cult film director Shane Meadows (This Is England) will host an exclusive premiere of his latest production The Living Room. On July 23, Hidden Agenda present Tycho live in the Button Factory, Dublin in support of his sophomore LP
