News of Subject’s mouthwatering tenth anniversary bash, Circles, leads the way on the dance front this fortnight.
Subject have just announced their plans for their 10th anniversary, Circles. Kerri Chandler, Ben Klock, The Black Madonna & Sunil Sharpe will headline the weekend event, taking place on Saturday July 29 & Sunday July 30 at both District 8 and Index, a new club run by the District 8 collective.
Circles Day 1 features a four-hour set from Kerri Chandler, which you can expect to be an amazing journey through classic house. Day 2 will see Berghain techno titan Ben Klock playing a four-hour set on Sunday afternoon into early evening. Sharing headline billing is The Black Madonna, one of the most in-demand DJs of recent years.
Subject is run by Dublin promoter Ronan Flynn, who has run shows in the POD, Twisted Pepper and now District 8 and Index. Over the years he has booked the likes of Derrick May, Marcel Dettmann, Andrew Weatherall, Surgeon, Luke Slater, Juan Atkins and more.
DiVISION have announced Tin Man (Live) on May 13 at Pygmalion. Described as a master of the neo-acid scene, the Viennese producer continues to evolve with each release. Over the last decade, he has explored an ever-changing sound palette that touches on house, techno and ambient.
Tin Man has also been responsible for reinvigorating the acid scene with his unique and cerebral manipulations of real Roland 303s. He has released on labels like Keys of Life and Acid Acid and he is also part of The Acid Symphony Orchestra, a live supergroup that perform on vintage Roland 303, 707 and 808 machines.

Down in Galway, Epoch celebrate their fifth anniversary with Scientific Dreamz Of U at the Electric Garden and Theatre. SDOU has released on Tabernacle, Bokhari, R-Zone and a cassette album on 1080p. He also co-hosts Kestrel Explorations on NTS Radio. Following on from that, Electric welcome Skream on May 18. Skream is a Sub Club veteran, XOYO resident, and was a leading figure in dubstep’s first generation.
The following night in Dublin, meanwhile, Melodic host Guy J at the Button Factory; Dimitri from Paris returns to District 8; Oliver Dollar is at Opium Rooms; and UFO Club and Distortion host Fouk at Index. Then on May 20, Brazil’s Gui Boratto returns to Opium Rooms with Abstract; Skream performs at District 8; and Culture Shock celebrate their fourth birthday with Martinez at Pygmalion. In addition, Daniel Wang performs at Wigwam with Bodytonic.
Also on May 20, Summer Haze host their first party at the Tara Building in Dublin. The Tara Building is a unique artists’ hub, work space and gallery. This is the first event to take place there and it’s BYOB. For the maiden voyage, they have invited Barcelona’s Marc Pinõl, who is part of C.P.I. and has released on labels such as Hivern Discs, Astrolab Recordings and Meant Records.
The same night, PT Connection host DJ Chicago at The Sound House on Eden Quay. Chicago is a founder of one of the most influential trance bands of all time, Micrograms, which also features Raja Ram and Riktam. He has DJed at every major trance festival, including Ozora, Boom, XXXPerience, Rainbow Serpent, Full Moon and TranceLoversNation. For anyone into trance or psy-trance, PT Connection parties are a must see. The production, decor and passion they put into their events are unrivalled.
