At the Spring Break Boogie showcase in Hotel Vegas on East 6th Street, revellers were treated to some exciting revelations.
Spanish band Hinds debuted two brand new songs at SXSW. The Madrid four-piece have had a switch up in their lineup adding two fresh members on bass and drums.
Explaining the tunes, Carlotta Cosials described the creative process as good, “when they had beers”, and when they didn’t, “we drank water”.
They also shared the news that their fourth album is set to be released in the summer.
This is their third appearance at South By Southwest, and it followed suit with non-stop technical issues, equipment malfunctions and set list mixups. Over the years, these problems have often plagued their Austin sets. Despite the frustrations, the group smiled through the pain, remaining upbeat and grateful to be back in Texas.
Hinds have another 13 sets to play. Here’s hoping that figure it’s not a bad-luck omen for the cheerful indie rockers.
