An ambitious rapper from County Mayo - his debut single 'Embers' set the tone for his successive releases in 2017.
West of Ireland artist Uppbeat (real name Finn Costelloe) has dropped his brand new single 'Cigarettes', featuring TikTok's Ella Lexxa.
The anthemic track fuses his love hip-hop and R&B with electronic and pop influences, creating a silky smooth coming-of-age belter with an edge.
Uppbeat and Elle met earlier in the year via TikTok and quickly developed a close working relationship.
'Cigarettes' is about sitting on the steps after a night out when you’re young, deeply in love and trying to prove your feelings to that person. This fusion of zany internet personalities welcomes you into a world of enchantment and alt bliss.
The song was engineered by musical wizard Stuart Hawkes, who is responsible for music from big names like Mura Masa, Charli XCX and Ed Sheeran.
“I was blown away by how developed and striking her aesthetic was and when I found her music, and I instantly became a fan," Uppbeat says on discovering Elle on TikTok.

"We decided to work on some records and we came up with 'Cigarettes'. We then planned to meet in London and work on the record more and we shot a homemade music video while we were there."
Uppbeat's previous singles include 'Tin Can Man', 'Black Balloons' and 'Better As Friends' in what became a productive 2020 for the creative.
Elle Lexxa currently has over 338,000 followers on TikTok, and over 23,000 monthly Spotify listeners. Also proving prolific last year, Lexxa released singles 'Obsessed', 'Hostage' and 'Transcend'.
