‘Start Again’s sonic assault is like Doves meets The Verve, while current single ‘Empty At The End’ mixes the best bits of Supergrass’ pop frills with Idlewild’s edgy thrills. Then you have the immediacy of ‘This Given Line’, the taut ‘Why Do You Try So Hard To Hate Me’ and the impressive ‘Biting The Soles Of My Feet’.

‘There’s A Silence’ and ‘Something’s Got To Give’ are potential world-beaters, yet their debut seven-inch, ‘Silent To The Dark’ plays like an infectious pop song with a dreary psychedelic drone-fest tacked on at the end, begging the question ‘Why?’ There is more than enough here, however, to suggest that the brothers White may yet emulate the success of those other famous English songwriting siblings.
