Boa Morte sold out a London date last week on the back of the UK release of their debut album Soon It Will Come to Face the World Outside through Pinnacle. Uncut, The Times, Americana UK and eh, The Sunday Express have been giving great platitudes to a "Cork quartet in spellbinding debut."
The legendary 'Padre Pio’ promo clip from the Warlords of Pez, which features on Kicking Against – Nuggets from the New Irish Overground, won a coveted animation award at the recent Galway Film Fleadh. Omellette have released their first 7" Happiness. Large Mound bassist Six Cans for a Fiver has left the band but they will trundle on for the moment as a three piece. They will appear at Wonky 2 in the Guinness Storehouse on August 24. As regards a replacement, the successful applicant will; "play with a plectrum, have a distortion pedal, be able to play fast downstroke rock, like some metal (not ironically)."
After a blistering Witnness performance, The Redneck Manifesto will play an eagerly awaited Whelan's date with Sweep The Leg Johnny and Daemien Frost on Saturday, September 14. A Limerick date follows the night after. Spotted in Limerick recently were raucous duo Giveamanakick (all one word!) alongside The Jekyll Brothers. They are a bit like a more manic White Stripes and they do a good take on 'Holiday Song' by the Pixies.
Get your hands on a copy of The Chalets if you can. Its sheer class. Dubliners looking for a good Monday night out should get along to Vibrator in Thomas House. Dan Watson, Daihatsu (Gregor57) and Rob Fox supply the tunes and there are regular live performances alongside visuals from Peter Maybury. Future live performances in August include Hard Sleeper (with free CD), Karl Him (with free CD) and Formika who played a great debut opening the first Wonky.

Uptown Racquet Club feature the talents of Donnacha Costello and Dave Donohue of Minimise Records, who both have amazing releases on Mille Plateaux and D records respectively, on guitars & keyboards and John Dermody of Jimmy Cake/F.E.S on drums along with Stephen Quinn playing "Instrumental Post-Drone-Electronic-Rock". The new Estel 7" is finally here and includes newies 'True Stories' and 'Mr. Raymond is Contagious'. They gave away a very special live CD to the first 20 punters at the launch with individually handmade artwork.
After performing at the Galway Arts Festival with Decal and Daniel Figgis, David Kitt now has a new radio treat – a special 'Ruth is Here' Mix of 'What I Ask' from Kittser's sister Ruth, meaning that three Kitts have committed their talents to a recording. Finally, the debut release from Herv will be entitled 'Warmduscher' to be packaged in heavy semi-opaque covers and pressed onto heavy 70gm vinyl and handled via the excellently titled Dublin label Compactrisc.
