The Sabbath means no work and all play; The Last Post wrap up number two; Exile Eye find hip-hop equilibrium; and The Road Relish Singles Club says, We are ten
We can exclusively reveal that the tenth sonic chapter in the Road Relish Singles Club series will include two new tracks from Adrian Crowley and Nina Hynes, who releases her debut album later this month. Also busying themselves are Estel – who are poised to record a new 7” on their own Little Plastic Tapes imprint and a split 7” with Australian band Ninety Nine. If can’t wait for your fix, catch ‘em on the road with Winterbrief in Limerick or Cork over the June Bank holiday.
Second album in the can from The Last Post entitled Dry Land which features a guest contributions from David Kitt and many, many more local luminaries. It will be available via Bright Star Recordings in the very near future.
The Sabbath is a day of independent artists doing their bit for the Dublin Rape Crisis centre on Sunday May 5th in Whelan’s. The line up includes: (take a deep breath) The Jimmy Cake, The Redneck Manifesto, The Dudley Corporation, Good Time John, NPB, Paul O’Reilly Somadrone, Richard Egan, Large Mound and more to be announced. Now that’s what I call great value for 10 euros and for a good cause too. You know what to do and there ain't no guestlist for you blagging types so cough up.
If you can’t wait until then for a mind-blowing local line up, then get along to Wonky in the Guinness Hop Store this weekend (Saturday April 13th) for more red hot live action from the two best live bands around – The Jimmy Cake and The Redneck Manifesto, accompanied by visuals from the D.A.D.D.Y. and Del-9 collectives who were behind some the best small screen moments in recent history, such as Creative Controle’s ‘Bloodrush’ and the classic video for ‘Padre Pio’ from The Warlords of Pez. The Rednecks will be launching their Cut Your Heart Off From Your Head album on the night and DJ action will come from Somadrone, John Dermody and many others. Tickets are a steal at a measly £6... Meanwhile, Zeppo, The Dudley Corporation, Deputy Fuzz and Listo will appear at the next Turner Sports and Social Club on April 25th.

Dublin outfit Rudy have just released their debut EP Muscles, Nerves and Movement.
Finally, a new label to keep close tabs on is Equilibrium. To date, the imprint has released a limited 7” from Exile Eye. The debut Exile Eye album Pressure Point is out now with contributions from DJ Mek, Splyce, Danz, Snyper and beats from Hazo (The Illdependents) and Troubled Soul. Material from Troubled Soul and Deasey Mooneye will be made available from the label in the very near future. Irish hip-hop is a brewing...
