New Albini-ised Irish releases from Joan of Arse and Adrian Crowley, and Road Records say: when you are here (for an instore gig), you are family...
Adrian Crowley has put his album launch commitments on hold due to a motorcycle accident last week when Crowley broke his arm. The album, When You Are Here You Are Family, which was recorded by Steve Albini in Chicago, will still be available in the shops from Friday October 5th but the launch show will have to wait until November. Also nursing wounds (picked up from sliding down a banister at a party) is Rory O’Keefe from The Ultra Montanes, who have also postponed a headlining engagement...
The Redneck Manifesto are putting out yet another 7” on Errol Records with some nifty design and artwork by Rednecker and XFM DJ Mattie. It is currently being pressed and should be hitting the shops in time for the Christmas stocking-filler rush...

The U:Mack posse have just launched a free-in Friday night venture called Bleep in Bodkins Bar on Bolton Street. The music policy is that there isn’t one except for top notch stuff from DJ Hell to My Bloody Valentine to Steve Reich from DJs Alan and Denis (dEcal) and Maura (M-Cut, Americhord).
Genuine nutbags but five star entertainers of the fortnight are the ever-charming Walrlords of Pez. They’ve been getting all arty with shows in the Guinness Storehouse as part of the Fringe festival, but don’t be misled. This madcap mayhem where all the songs last less than a minute and boast such insightful lines as “Derek Davis/With a basket/In a pound shop/Buying deodorant.” Apparently that lyrical visual picture is based on a true story. Genius.
