Julius Geezer Records, Fuck Witnness, Richie Egan, Memory Cells and more
JULIUS GEEZER RECORDS have just celebrated three years of releasing superb music from Dot Creek, Joan of Arse, large Mound, Omelette, Good Time John, A-Tone and Richie Egan of Redneck Manifesto fame.
...Meanwhile, RICHIE EGAN and his fellow Rednecks have plenty to celebrate. The launch night for their debut album was totally stuffed to the rafters, while their debut album Thirty Six Strings on Greyslate is the best seller at Road Records after a mere week, even outstripping recent releases from Sparklehorse, Rocket From The Crypt and even Radiohead.
...Industrious chaps that they all are, MEMORY CELLS have already laid down some new tracks for what many be next their next album. Hot on the heels of We Have Found the New Jerusalem, the album has the working titles Musick Magnetica and Magnetic Music. The Cells will also be remixing a track from the acclaimed Daniel Figgis LP Skipper.
...MERE, a brother-and-sister-fronted six-piece outfit from the Midlands, are rapidly winning over an ever increasing fanbase. Having just completed a series of recording sessions on Achill, Mere have been playing some superb shows in and around Mullingar.
...The Midlands' STABLES venue has just launched its own all-ages-show venture entitled ‘Stables Saturday’ which kicked off with a live set from RAMSCAR. For the uninitiated, RAMSCAR stands for Rise Almighty Satan And Rule. Charming.

...Satan seems to be flavour of the fortnight, as Belfast instrumentalists THE KABINBOY have announced details of side-project called My Name is Satan. A full-length debut album will be available from July 20th with the very sweet title Refuse to Kneel.
...This fortnight’s super-group alert is for LABEL – a trio featuring one Terry Sutton, Shane Fitzsimons and the ubiquitous Binnzer – a man who well and truly gets around as a member of The Frames, Bell X 1 and Graham Hopkins’ band Hopper.
...Lovers of all things punky, spunky and obnoxious will be thrilled to punk rock heaven to hear that FUCK WITNNESS will yet again be staged this year in Fred Zeppelin’s in Cork concurrent to the corporate rock whore thingy on the August Bank Holiday Weekend. Stereophonics fans are best advised to keep their distance and seek sanctuary at Fairyhouse.
