The acclaimed Irish duo of singer / actress Honor Heffernan and composer Trevor Knight will debut their Dorothy Parker-inspired new album, The Whistling Girl, with a cabaret and speakeasy-style show at the Button Factory, October 5.
The original and unique music composed by Knight combines with these poems about rebel wit, which give full reign to Honor Heffernan's witty, droll and sometimes heart rending lyrics.
The show draws heavily on the Cabaret style of Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht with echoes of Rain Dogs era Tom Waits, the contemporary noir of Nick Cave, Kraftwerk and The Doors.
The album launch at the Button Factory is part of an extensive Irish tour, which will preced a visit to The Irish Arts Centre in New York for two dates (Nov 17, 18) in association with the Dorothy Parker Society.
