If you’ve been searching for an act who rage against the proverbial machine then look no further. Snottier than a nursery school during flu season and boasting a fistful of outsider anthems, Limerick’s Post Punk Podge & The Technohippies are a brilliantly bizarre bunch, who draw on politics, performance art, Krautrock, hip hop and more. Reminiscent of Jinx Lennon, John Lydon and Jello Biafra, their live shows are rapidly becoming the stuff of legend thanks to their serious musical chops, Podge’s impassioned vocal delivery, and their leader’s stage-gear (namely the large envelope covered in stamps and band stickers that he wears on his head). Their February-released EP could be a game changer.
HEAR: ‘Post Punk Election Party’.
SEE: Them in Whelan’s, Dublin on March 1.
