Having spent recent years directing and editing music videos for other Irish artists, 27-year-old filmmaker Brendan Corcoran stepped into the spotlight in 2022 with his entirely self-produced LP FREND – one of the most boundary-pushing, genre-blurring Irish debuts of the year, recorded in a box room in his mother’s house. Touching on some of the harshest realities of modern life in Ireland, while still retaining his comedic flair, it marks Frendan as an uncompromisingly original, and fearlessly innovative, emerging artist.
