Dark thoughts can often plague our minds - as we drop off to sleep, we are in our most vulnerable state, susceptible to all of the monsters which we avoid during the day.
Noel O'Brien's 'Sirens' brings those light night fears to life, with a track that tricks the listener into a false sense of security. In a song, that feels dreamlike, O'Brien quickly transforms a would-be-light fantasy into a hellish nightmare.
It opens up with a soothing guitar and an even soother tone, O'Brien's delivery is meditative, luring the listener into a trance. However, the song picks up, taking a twisted approach.
The use of whispers in the song's bridge feels demented, making one feeling paranoid and on the verge of a breakdown. He sings 'in your head' repeatedly - not in the rebellious shrieking of Dolores O'Riordan in 'Zombie', but in a low-pitched, sadistic mumble.
The track is well-constructed, with a suitably grand production that never feels overdone or out of place.
Noel is a 24-year-old songwriter from Tipperary who moved up to Dublin to pursue a career in music.

His second EP Sunken Lines started off as a DIY project, with Noel recording the main vocals and guitars and then adding in the parts of other musicians who recorded their parts separately.
Noel is continuing to write and record new material.
