As a songwriter, Gareth's brand of rugged, soulful-acoustic style has been picked up by a diverse set of artists ranging from country superstars Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, rap superstar T.I. to Damian McGinty from Glee. You'll have heard is golden vocals in the likes of Lucifer, Nashville and One Tree Hill in the past. And he's refined his style thanks to splitting his time between Belfast and Nashville, as well as touring with the likes of Van Morrison, The Stereophonics, Snow Patrol and James Morrison.

'Can't Stand Myself' is a quietly powerful piece of music. The track gives space for the range and emotion of Gareth's voice.

Speaking about it, Gareth tells us: “most of the time I pull from my own experience and draw on emotions past and present. This song was different. The title came after a conversation with a friend about his attraction to a girl that was spoken for. He told me it was getting harder and harder for him to be around her. It's essentially a song that looks at what desire does to the person feeling it as opposed to why someone is desirable."

It's an appropriate taster for the singer's new EP, Many Moons Ago, which will be released this Friday, June 15.

Recorded in Nashville at The Blueroom Studios on Analog Tape & Trident TSM 1978 Console, new collection of songs Many Moons Ago showcases his vulnerable yet forceful tones. The recording is co-produced and engineered by Grammy winning engineer, Charles Yingling who tells us “when recording on tape, you have to commit to your sound, and with Gareth Dunlop behind the mic, that’s easy. He is one of those artists you never have to worry if he’s gonna nail it, because he always does.”
