Twenty-four year old Limerick native Nile St. James has premiered his latest work ‘To Leave Behind’, and if you’re a fan soulful voices like Sam Smith and Adele, you’re going to want to hear it.
A one take recording, filmed in the beautiful Ormston House gallery of Limerick City, this soulful track tells the story of unrequited love.
Accompanied by Martin Atkinson, the song is stripped down to piano and spine-tingling vocals, magnifying the sense of vulnerability in the honest and heartfelt lyrics. The live recording also lends to the haunting ballad, where the natural acoustics carry the music beyond the corners of the sparse venue.
Filmed by Shane Serrano of crude.ie, ‘To Leave Behind’ is the first of a series of love songs Nile has in store for us. And with the upcoming release of his new EP Meraki, you can expect to hear a lot more from where that came from.
