Blending a meditative and alluring soundscape with dark twisted lyrics, Runway Lights debut track, 'Crash', gives their audience a delicious taste of what is to come.
Starting off with soft percussion and hallucinative guitar strings, the song pulls the listener in to a trance like state.
One must spend considerable time trying to untangle themselves from the sweetness of the instrumentation to discover the horrifying story the song has to tell.
"When you go head over heels won't you take a sec to try not to break your neck?" the lead sings in an almost sweet manner.
As the track continues, the song gives an illusion of hitting a wall. It narrates the sensation of a nervous break down - everything starting off cool and collected, the darkness being sheltered by the beauty, before disintegrating into an enraged outburst of despair. The song accelerates full speed, with the lead singer finally unleashing the rage that had slowly been building up throughout the track.
Despite the group's relative newness, they manage to demonstrate a maturity and self-awareness that most performers take years to achieve. They've perfected an aesthetic that is as sharp as it is unique. With a strong opening single, the group have ingeniously communicated to the Irish music scene exactly who they are and that they plan to make their mark.
