With powerhouse vocals that rival the enchanting beauty of Freddie Mercury and George Michael, State Lights newest single Freedom is a joyous, 80's coated ballad that will send your spirits soaring
The track wastes no time with exposition. The opening bars come smashing in with electric guitars and delicious synthesizers, setting the tone for a song that transports its listener back to the golden age of pop.
The vocal's are spectacular, with each chorus ending with an angelic belt that pulls its listener into a chamber of elation and love.
The music video depicts a love letter to Dublin, past and present. With the lead singer roaming around the city, handing out sunflowers to passersby. Singing about the elated feeling of falling in love, the song cleverly parallel's the story of Ireland's progression with his own narrative of self-acceptance.
The video lifts vintage clips from Phil Lynott's 'Old Town', putting together the scene of the couple kissing, with the same pair smooching in modern day. It then goes onto show intimate moments between same-sex couples, highlighting the significant progress Ireland has made in its attitude toward the LGBT community.
A perfect entry for all of the Irish Pride playlists, State Lights have delivered a track that strikes a perfect balance between camp and polished.
