Hot Press Track of the Day: The Rapparees pay tribute with 'Fairytale of The Pogues'
Belfast’s busiest folk band, the Rapparees, have been fanatical followers of the Pogues throughout their musical lives; and when the chance to pay homage to their heroes came up, they jumped at it.
Three years and six sold-out shows later, their Christmas Pogues tribute concerts have now become an annual tradition.
For 2017, The Rapparees have lined up three shows; two in the Limelight, Belfast and one in the Academy, Dublin from 21-23 December.
The usual 5-piece line up will be expanded to 12 musicians including piano, brass, bass and percussion to help re-create the magic of hits like 'Fiesta', 'Streams of Whiskey', 'Sally McLennane', 'If I Should Fall From Grace With God' and many more.
