Officially launched at the Nerve Centre in Derry, John Deery and The Heads' third studio album Nothing Permanent Lasts was created with the crowdfunding help of over 100 people.
The eagerly awaited follow-up to the band's first two albums - Smoke and Mirrors (2010) and Horizon (2013) - Nothing Permanent Lasts deals with themes of time and impermanence (hence the title). Mental health and existential issues run through much of the writing as well.
The album artwork was conceived by John as a large oil painting of Mount Errigal in Donegal, alluding to a line in the title track 'long after the bones of the hills have faded away'.

Speaking about the crowdfunding effort that helped produce this album, John Deery said: "People expect to get music for free, instantly, all the time now, and this has created a culture of throwaway immediate disposable music that can be flicked through and ignored. This is a special album for us and we would much rather have people want to hear the album, take the time and effort to get their hands on it. I believe it is well worth the effort for those that do. This is an album for our fans and supporters, for those who have got us to where we are and those who have always been there for our music." Preview the album below and buy it here.
