The word was in the wind – but this morning, Hozier confirmed the title of the new EP, which will hit the airwaves, and the shops, on September 6
Platinum-selling global Irish star Hozier has confirmed the title of his new EP. The record – his first full-scale new release since his debut album was launched four years ago, in September 2014 – is entitled Nina Called Power. It is set for release this coming Friday, September 6. He has also confirmed that a new album is on the way. Hozier wrote ‘Better Love’ for the 2016 blockbuster The Legend of Tarzan. It was released as a single and played over the end credits for the film.
He also released ‘Cherry Wine’, the final track on his debut album, in 2016, to raise awareness of the issue of domestic violence. The song, which was originally released on his first EP, had first been recorded in a disused hotel, where the roof had caved in and the walls were covered in graffiti; he later did a live recording, which featured on the album Hozier.
“I’m thrilled to release the Nina Cried Power EP on September 6,” Hozier stated. "This collection of songs is an example of what I’ve been working on in the last while and will be a small taste of what is to be expected from the upcoming album.”
Hozier is set to play a special serfies of intinmate gigs this week in the Academy Theatre, Dublin. All the proceeds from the shows will go to the charities Safe Ireland, One In Four and The Peter McVerry Trust. He will also play selected dates in New York this month.
Hozier's debut album has sold well in excess of a million copies worldwide. The lead track ‘Take Me To Church’ was a worldwide smash, going 8 times platinum in Canada and reaching No. 2 in both the US and the UK as a single. The superb video has currently been viewed an astonishing 399,558,460 times – and rising.
