The Bray bluesman performed 'Take Me To Church', on a night where he scooped a pair of shiny mantlepiece ornaments from the US music bible's gong show
Hozier was crowned as Top Rock Artist at last night's Billboard Music Awards, as well as scooping the award for Best Rock Song.
'Take Me To Church' has been a massive hit Stateside - and his eponymous album shot into the charts at No. 2 on its release - so it's little enough surprise that recognition came the way of the Bray bluesman.
He beat out Bastille, Coldplay, Fall Out Boy and Lorde (yeah, the 'rock' designation has us confused too) on the way to being named Top Rock Artist at the Las Vegas ceremony. His signature hit also slugged it out against similar opposition - Bastille's 'Pompeii', Coldplay's 'A Sky Full of Stars', Fall Out Boy's 'Centuries' and Paramore's 'Ain't It Fun' to be named Top Rock Song.
He also performed at the ceremony, which saw his friend Taylor Swift leave as the big winner, grabbing eight awards; Iggy Azalea, Pharrell Williams and Sam Smith fared next best, each collecting three gongs.
