The announcement follows the artist’s headline performance at the Newport Folk Festival, which took place in Rhode Island last weekend.
In a post on social media, Hozier expressed gratitude at being reminded of what the festival “offers through its legacy, and through the space it can create for these moments.”
He also thanked the artists he performed with, including Singer and activist Mavis Staples, folk musician Joan Baez and “the artists of their generation who lit a torch that still lights the way”.

His setlist saw him covering a song by Canadian-American rock group, The Band. Delivering a version of the 1968 song, ‘The Weight’, he was joined onstage by Staples, The Lumineers, and more.
Staples has worked with Hozier in the past, collaborating with him on his 2019 sophomore ‘Wasteland, Baby!’ and joining him onstage at the Newport folk Festival in the same year.

Baez also performed her version of the protest song ‘We Shall Overcome’, which became synonymous with the African-American Civil Rights movement.
