Hozier's recording of 'The Parting Glass' is heading for the Official Irish Singles Chart.
After captivating Irish audiences with his performance of 'The Parting Glass' on The Late Late Show, Hozier released the recording as a charity single on Friday, April 17, with all proceeds from the digital release going to the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (ISPCC) and Childline. Now, the single is heading for major success on the Official Irish Singles Chart.
On The Late Late Show, the Co. Wicklow musician discussed the ISPCC's incredible efforts to help children during the COVID-19 crisis. Since lockdown began, the ISPCC has reported three times the number of calls to its Childline service.
Ireland's overwhelmingly positive response to Hozier's take on 'The Parting Glass' inspired him to release the traditional song as a charity single. Since its release on Friday, 'The Parting Glass' is the most downloaded song of the week so far, and is on course for a Top 20 debut on the Official Irish Singles Chart – currently standing at No.13.
'The Parting Glass' will become Hozier's 13th Top 50 hit should its momentum continue.
