Matt Elliot could sub-title his last ever release on Domino with the words; "I'm going to be as bloody abstract as I like I don't bloody well care."
I Poopoo On Your Juju is Elliot's kaleidoscopic collage of remixes he has undertaken for various artists in the recent past, yet the only names familiar to the muso community at large will be Blonde Redhead and the enfant terrible of surreal satire that answers to the name Chris Morris.
The spooky serenity of the piano-led 'La Dispute' is a misleading show opener for the mind-boggling whacked out lunacy that follows. By the time 'Urchin' creeps terrifyingly from the speakers, all preconceptions and facile attempts at categorization are blown away. Devotees of last year's cult classic Little Lost Soul or any of Elliot's previous oeuvre will be thrilled at how far he's pushing the boat out onto unchartered sonic seas.

It's far too easy to be cynical about the much abused art of remixing when every second pseudo-celebrity muppet endeavours to have a go. But a for an engaging reminder of the creative potential of rewriting the rulebooks and effectively re-composing a tune, look no further than this terrible beauty. File alongside contemporary remixers extraodinaire such as Kevin Shields and Kid Loco. However despite dishing out all that lavish praise, I have no doubt that some listeners will be absolutely appalled by these squiro-symphonies. And I'm sure that makes Matt feel absolutely great.
