Idles have released new track 'Grace' ahead of the release of their forthcoming fifth studio effort TANGK in the new year.
Ahead of the February 16th release of their hotly anticipated fifth studio album TANGK, IDLES have shared stirring new single 'Grace' — alongside a spate of new tour dates, with performances in Dublin's Olympia theatre and Belfast's Telegraph Building.
The newly released track sees frontman Joe Talbot soulfully croon over a slow-burning and euphoric soundscape of thumping bass and driving drums, as the track takes an uncharacteristically tender lyrical approach, powerfully affirming the power of love; before the track detonates, giving way to a bewildering cacophony of noise rock theatrics and crescendoing strings. Its an evocatively penned manifesto of love triumphing over nihilism, signalling a new era for IDLES, as Joe Talbot delivers his most heartfelt —though still menacingly off-kilter — vocal performance to date.
As with the rest of the album, 'Grace' was produced by Nigel Godrich (Radiohead, The Smile, Beck), Kenny Beats (Denzel Curry, Vince Staples, Benee) and the band’s Mark Bowen.
“The song came from nowhere and everything. It was a breath and a call to be held,” Talbot enthuses, “The only words or singing that came from our sessions with Nigel and I needed it, truly. All is love.”

Preceding 'Grace,' IDLES released their first cut from TANGK back in October — a playfully dance-infused collaboration with LCD Soundsystem duo James Murphy and Nancy Wang.
The British post-punk quintet have announced a number of new dates for their 2024 world tour, including a newly announced North American tour, and new Irish dates. They’ll kick off the first leg in Vancouver, BC at PNE Forum on May 3rd, with the second leg beginning September 14th at Asheville, NC’s Rabbit Rabbit, before concluding in Mexico City. On the heels of being announced as supports for LCD Soundsystem's highly anticipated Malahide Castle gig in June of next year, IDLES will also play the Telegraph Building in Belfast on November 17th, as well as Dublin's Olympia on the 19th.
Fans who pre-order the band’s upcoming album TANGK will receive access to pre-sale for tour tickets. General sale tickets for IDLES are available from 9 am on Friday, December 8th via Ticketmaster.
