"Somebody said to me recently, 'Are raves back?' and I was like, 'Mate, raves never stopped! Just because you hit whatever age and stopped going out doesn't mean that kids aren't making their own parties," said Kirwan.
Dublin Oldschool's music was supervised by Dublin DJ Johnny Moy who has performed with the likes of Death in Vegas, The Chemical Brothers, Andrew Weatherall and Shit Robot, whose 'Teenage Bass' plays in the film.
"I was at God knows how many of his gigs back in the day. Johnny's a genius when it comes to creating a mood or atmosphere with music. It's a real talent," Kirwan told Hot Press.
Dublin Oldschool has received critical acclaim with Hot Press's Roe McDermott giving it 4.5/5 stars. The movie came sixth in the Irish box-office this week being beaten by Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Ocean's 8, Sicario 2: Soldado, Adrift and Tag
