Estimated to launch early next year, IKEA are planning to cater to all the party people of the world in a way only they can do.
A sneak peak on the IKEA Instagram shows brightly coloured speakers, sound systems and... is that a lighting rig there too?
Posted on the 14th of February, the two images show "from sketch to prototype" of the FREKVENS (Swedish for 'frequency') line which will hopefully include a record player, electronic choir and a whole host of music tech at an affordable price and will aim to enable users to "throw a really good party wherever you are." Having teamed up with Teenage Engineering, an music tech store that focuses on music equipment and systems such as wireless audio speakers, the two companies have been focusing on incorporating what they do best into one neat package for music lovers.
“We know that for younger people, spontaneity is key," says Michael Nikolic, the creative leader at IKEA Range & Supply. "The idea of gathering some friends could become a reality in minutes. What is then needed at home? Or maybe you want to bring along the party somewhere else? Together with Teenage Engineering we want to explore the possibilities of bringing the party with you and what else you need for a great party.”

There's already high hopes for the system in that it will help revolutionise music for budding musicians and university students who want only the finest to blare tracks throughout the house. With roughly a year to launch however, it'll be a long and worthwhile wait.
