Holland is often credited with giving May her first big break in the ‘00s.
Imelda May will be joining Jools Holland and his renowned Rhythm & Blues Orchestra on their 2024 Autumn/Winter UK tour, replacing Marc Almond as the special guest for a series of six performances across the UK in November.
One of Ireland’s most celebrated artists, the Liberties native has become revered for her dynamic blend of blues, soul, rock, gospel and jazz. To this day, her album Love Tattoo is the best-selling LP by a homegrown female artist in Ireland while her most recent offering, 2021's 11 Past the Hour, became her fourth Irish no.1.
Elsewhere, May is gearing up for an anticipated return to the world of theatre as she prepares to reprise her role in the one-woman play, Mother of All The Behans. The singer was also one of a number of trailblazing female singers to take part in a very special Nothing Compares show for Brigid's Day at the Moat Theare, Naas, last February.

Holland is often credited with discovering May, giving her first big break when the singer appeared on BBC's Jools Holland Show in 2008. Since then, she’s performed alongside legends like Lou Reed, Bono, Tom Jones, Noel Gallagher, and Robert Plant.
“I am thrilled to welcome Imelda May to our tour. Her incredible talent and energy are sure to bring an exciting new dimension to our shows,” said Holland. “I have had the pleasure of knowing and performing with Imelda for many years, our audiences are in for a treat.”
