The opening slot will include the current IMLÉ line-up of vocalists Róisín Seoighe, James Shannon, guitarist & founding member Cian Mac Cárthaigh and multi-instrumentalist Neil Ó Brian.
IMLÉ have been announced as the openers for Damien Dempsey for two of his Vicar Street gigs next week, December 16 and 17.
The news comes off the back of IMLÉ’s latest release, the early 90’s indie-inspired single ‘As Do Cheo’, marking the latest collaboration between the band and Róisín Seoighe.
Speaking of the lyrical content of the song Seoighe says: “‘As Do Cheo' is a song about the relief that comes from escaping a relationship that made you once feel confined or disorientated in life.
"The song explores the ways in which such relationships can affect people's thoughts and intentions. I think the Ceo or the Fog is an interesting image, it's an image that's used in the song as a symbol of the lack of understanding, the lack of freedom or the lack of relief that we all encounter in certain relationships that we experience throughout our lives.”

The recent months have been busy for IMLÉ, with sold-out shows in Dún Laoghaire's Pavilion Theatre along with gigs in The Workman's Cellar, Róisín Dubh in Galway and most recently a trip to play in London at the Irish Cultural Centre in Hammersmith at the end of the November.
The Vicar Street opening slot marks the band’s last live performance of the year, with a setlist that will include a mix of material from their first two albums, Seoighe's solo music and new music from their upcoming EP, which is due out in the New Year.
