Bray trio Wyvern Lingo grace the cover of the new issue of Hot Press!
The word is out. With the release of their self-titled debut album, Wyvern Lingo are set to take the world by storm. Sitting down with Hot Press for their first ever cover story, school friends Karen, Caoimhe and Saoirse talk tattoos, touring, songwriting - and the importance of feminism.
Elsewhere in the new issue, we meet with one of Ireland's biggest international stars, electro sensation EDEN, who explores the origins of his success, which has led to 10s of millions of streams, playing sold out venues across the states, and a stunning debut album Vertigo.
Emerging Irish artists are the name of the game this issue, as we also provide full coverage of the nine Irish acts who played at Eurosonic Festival this year - including the likes of Soule, Jafaris, Robocobra Quartet and Dermot Kennedy. We also speak to rising Tullamore trio Chasing Abbey and last summer's finest hitmaker DJ John Gibbons, who helps us round up our coverage of the All Time Top 30 Songs from the South-East (Engine Alley, Maverick Sabre, Wallis Bird and many more feature...)
There's also a nod to one of the greatest musicians ever, who paved the way for a generation of artists, as Hot Press looks back on the volatile career of the one and only Mark E. Smith/.
Speaking of figures from the past, Irish political party Renua seemed doomed to reside there after crashing and burning in the last national election. But despite being battered and bruised, they've chosen John Leahy as their new party leader. Hot Press' Senior Editor Jason O'Toole goes toe-to-toe with the man for a frank and honest interview, in which Renua's new leader talks about his deeply conservative views, why he thinks the silent majority will defeat the Repeal referendum, and his admiration for Donald Trump.
In our film section this issue, Roe McDermott speaks to Oscar-nominated director Sebastian Lelio about new film, A Fantastic Woman, as well as combating prejudice and growing up in Pinochet's Chile.
