The new issue of Hot Press is out now – featuring Sinéad O'Connor, The Killers, IDLES, Angel Olsen, Joshua Burnside, Pillow Queens, Keanu Reeves, Mary Coughlan, The Student Special, See Change's Green Ribbon Campaign and more!
The wait is over – the new flip cover special issue of Hot Press, starring Sinéad O'Connor and The Killers, is here!
Sinéad O'Connor is in no mood for pulling punches as she explains why the success of the Black Lives Matter movement hinges on Trump being removed from the White House in November. In a searingly honest and impassioned interview, she also talks to Stuart Clark about the musical heroes that provide light in the darkness, and her spine-tingling version of Mahalia Jackson's 'Trouble Of The World', out on October 2 – which Sinéad hopes will soundtrack Donald J's downfall.
The Killers may be buzzing with new album excitement, but frontman Brandon Flowers is sickened by the state of the American nation, and is praying for a Biden victory in November. He talks heroes and villains (thankfully there's more of the former) with Stuart Clark.
On the cover of the new issue, you'll also find a free green ribbon – as we mark the beginning of October's Green Ribbon Campaign, during which See Change encourage people in Ireland to 'Say No To Mental Health Stigma'. Inside the issue, See Change's Barbara Brennan tells us about her own journey with mental illness, and the importance of the campaign.
As part of our Student Special, USI President Lorna Fitzpatrick talks about how Covid-19 restrictions are likely to impact on college-goers and what can be done to maintain some semblance of normality. Plus, Provost Paddy Prendergast on how Trinity is coping with the pandemic; Senator Annie Hoey on the importance of student acticism; our guide to the best student movies and TV shows; and advice on how to get the most from your college experience.
You'll also find in-depth interviews with IDLES, Angel Olsen, Mary Coughlan, Joshua Burnside, Pillow Queens, and a final interview with the late, great Toots Hibbert.
