Nice but unoriginal MOR folk
A collection of both original songs and classic covers (she reworks U2, Ewan McColl and Elvis) from a clear throated and skilled singer. Kate Purcell’s offering isn’t entirely groundbreaking, but it’s skilfully put together, beautifully played, well produced, and her version of McColl’s ‘The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face’ is lovely. It has to be said, however, that this ground has been covered many times by members of the Black family, so it’s probably not going to change many lives. If that’s your bag, however, you should probably put this into it.
Key Track: ‘The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face’
