The Irish-Canadian Festival is looking for the country’s best independent artists
Indie Week Ireland is set to take place between May 11 – 14 next year and organisers are now looking for independent Irish bands to compete for the chance to play Indie Music Canada. The ‘Best of The Fest’ in May will secure free flights to Toronto, Ontario in October 2011 and the opportunity to wow the Canadian music industry.
Artist applications for Indie Week Ireland are being accepted until January 21, with those who apply by January 1 being privy to a 2-for-1 early bird special which allows them enter for both the Irish and Canadian weeks. Entry is not just limited to Irish bands, but acts from around the world.
Entry costs €26 with submissions accepted at [link]www.sonicbids.com/indieweek[/link] (artists who are not Sonicbids members can email [email protected] to request the mail-in application.)

Dublin band Sixteen Layers said of their experience at Indie Week Canada 2009:
“Indie Week Canada was a big success for Sixteen Layers. To our joy, we met a lot of great people, drank a lot of Jager and heard a lot of great music. We're still working with a lot of people we hooked up with over the week.”
