After five years off the radar, the mighty Dudley Corporation have returned...
There’s better way to start than with some news to put a spring in your step! Ladies and gentlemen brace yourselves for the long-awaited return of (drum roll)…The Dudley Corporation! It’s been five long years since they unveiled the aural ecstasy that was Year Of The Husband. Now you can prepare your ears for the similarly thrilling Everyone Does Everything Wrong which lands on May 11.
It was recorded with Jimmie Eadie of Jape and Si Schroeder renown in Asylum Studios, mixed by Rob Bochnik of The Frames in Chicago and mastered by Stephen Quinn.

Moving south next… Kilkenny four-piece Audio Fires have just released debut single ‘All Of The Way’, a splendid slice of catchy indie rock. The track was recorded at Jam Studio in Kells and was produced by Martin Quinn and Paul Hindle. The guys will shortly return to Jam to start work on their album. They cite The Vaccines, Kings Of Leon and Band Of Skulls as influences, which will give you an idea of the sonic territory they occupy. Check hotpress.com for live news…
Some updates from the Dott camp next… Since their Late Late Show appearance in February the guys have been pretty busy. They just released their Button EP on Graveface Records and have finished recording their debut album with Fiachra McCarthy of So Cow and Squarehead fame, which will hopefully be with us this summer. The band impressed at the Camden Crawl Dublin last week and were busy on home turf on Record Store Day when lead singer Anna McCarthy curated a special Galway Arts Centre gig featuring themselves, Hunk!, Cave Ghosts, Oh Boland, Adult Rock and Laminator…
Wexford Americana outfit Corner Boy – the vehicle of folk artist Michael D’Arcy – recently released the beguiling Morning Morning EP and have been in receipt of much praise ever since! Reviewed in this issue’s Tracks, the opus was recorded in Lennoxville, Quebec following a year of North American touring.
The band recently played Other Voices Derry and emerged triumphant from both the DIT Battle of the Bands and DIT All Stars Talent Competition.
Their unique stylings, which incorporate Irish trad, gospel and blues influences, are winning them quite the following! Stay tuned for news on live dates and future releases…
Dublin combo Able Archer gave their Bullets EP the official launch treatment last week in The Grand Social. The outfit have built up quite a reputation on the Dublin live circuit, regularly gigging in Sweeney’s, the Mezz and the Sugar Club. The debut offering is available on iTunes and Spotify for your listening pleasure…
And finally, if you haven’t already heard about the The Pale’s 21 Song Salute, I’ve just made Mondays a little more tolerable! At the start of each week, the band make a song available via-Soundcloud. Most of the tracks have never been heard before and others are b-sides and rarities. More details on their Facebook page.
