One of our favourite festivals is almost here. Yes, it’s time to head down south to Indiependence, where the selection of Irish talent is absolutely stellar
Team HP are Indiependence-bound over the August Bank Holiday and very much looking forward to sampling the stellar line-up. Once again the domestic scene is well-represented with a batch of top-notch acts from around the country, not to mention The People’s Republic…
High on our list of 'must-sees' are The Altered Hours, still basking in the glowing reviews for their Sweet Jelly Roll EP (released on Anton Newcombe’s A Recordings no less). The guys had the pleasure of supporting Brian Jonestown Massacre at their Academy date earlier this month and went down a storm. Plus they got to meet Kevin Shields, who popped along to the show! Check the cat-that-got-the-cream grins in the photos with the gent himself on their Facebook page! The outfit will be festival fit following appearances at the Galway Fringe and Knockanstockan….
It’s been a great year so far for Fifa Records’ Slow Motion Heroes. Those Indie-bound can expect to hear new tunes a plenty if you didn’t manage to catch their Galway and Cork dates in June. The Franco-Irish combo are just back from a show in Samur where they gave French fans a live fix in the esteemed company of The Frank And Walters…..
Fellow label-mates The Vincents have just announced that Dandy Warhol Courtney Taylor will be mixing and doing post-production on tracks they're laying down over the next few weeks. Following appearances at Forbidden Fruit, K Fest, BARE, Sea Sessions and Knockanstockan the band will be a well-oiled festival machine by the time they hit Mitchelstown!...
Indie-goers should make sure to check out electro-rockers Toy Soldiers, catch some shoegaze action courtesy of Elastic Sleep and sing along to feel-good tune of the summer, ‘Never Felt So Good’ with Neon Atlas!...
On a non-Rebel County note we are tingling with excitement with the thought of catching The Minutes who sadly had to cancel a batch of shows due to singer Mark’s illness. The festival date marks their greatly anticipated return!....
We Cut Corners return to north Cork after last year’s glorious performance on the main stage. Conall and John are just back from a show in on of their favourite London venues, Camden Barfly. The duo are making quite the stir across the water, a certain Mr Frank Skinner even played ‘Blue’ on his Absolute Radio show recently!...
Codes are on the festival circuit once more after a quiet few years working on their hotly anticipated long-player AALTARS. Lead single ‘Astraea’ has set the bar high as it has garnered rave reviews (Single of the Week in Artrocker!) and airplay here and in the UK. Perhaps they might treat us to another few teasers...
Other domestic luminaries to look forward to include Delorentos, Walking On Cars, Damien Dempsey, Tvvins, Cronin and too many to mention!
See you down the front!
