Already out now is the reimagined 'Big Shot City' Interpolation work by Makaya McCraven
Last year, the rock band Interpol dropped their 7th studio album, The Other Side of Make-Believe. Now, ahead of their tour and visit to Dublin, they've crafted a new collaborative project called Interpolations.
It's a reimagining of their latest album, reworked by artists like Daniel Avery, Makaya McCraven, Jeff Parker, Jesu, and Water From Your Eyes. Already released Makaya McCraven's take on Interpol's 'Big Shot City.'
“From the Latin drum and bass rhythms applied to 'Big Shot City' by Makaya McCraven to the esoteric and propulsive soundscape created by Water From Your Eyes for 'Something Changed', Interpolations is an exotic journey that reframes our songs and joins them to the vision of talented artists we admire," the band shares.
We are overjoyed to be able to finally share “The Other Side of Make-Believe” with you. We put our little hearts into the creation of the album and hope you love it as much as we do. https://t.co/owvIFxEJdZ pic.twitter.com/w7TEHJM0WQ

Expressing further excitement about the creative musical feat, Interpol continued on to detail how each artist brings a new charm to the New York band's hits.
"Daniel Avery completely strips 'Greenwich' down to only a few of its component parts - allowing Juliet Seger’s angelic backing vocal to float hypnotically over driving electronic currents."
"And the reimaginings of 'Passenger' and 'Toni' by Jeff Parker and Jesu respectively round out this collection with flare, with recontextualized arrangements underlining and often deepening the emotion, drama and excitement of the originals."
The announcement comes before Interpol's The Other Side of Make-Believe Tour happening later this spring. It starts next month and will feature a Dublin date at Trinity College on June 30th.
They'll be supported by Water From Your Eyes, one of the bands working on the Interpolations collaboration.
Interpol will also headline the Somerset House Summer Series on July 10th, in addition to playing at festivals like Corona Capital in Mexico and Outside Lands in the USA. In Europe, they'll play Best Kept Secret in the Netherlands, Sideways in Finland, Rock Werchter in Belgium, Low Festival in Spain, and headline the Days Off Festival at the Philharmonie de Paris in France.
