One-upping the enterprising Gorillaz, who rounded off 2010 by making an album on an iPod, Linda Perry has released a series of tunes recorded on the not-so-humble iPhone. Yup, when she’s not off being Christina Aguilera’s bessie, the former Four Non Blondes frontwoman eats up time by recording covers of assorted popular records, from Soundgarden’s ‘Black Hole Sun’ to Alicia Keys’ ‘Pray For Forgiveness’. Perry explains it like this, “iPhone Sessions is me learning a song in an hour, recording it into my iPhone voice memo and twittering it for all to hear. No tricks, one take.” As expected, the results are shaky at best, but for the most part, the songwriting hotshot does a stunning job. Get it here.
