Damola's upcoming EP is due out later this year.
Since first emerging on the scene in 2008, Damola has become of the most convincing voices in the Irish hip-hop boom. After a string of well-received singles, the Dublin rapper is back with a brand new single ‘Gave Myself’.
The track is a hard-hitting exploration of Damola’s inner-demons, as he wrestles between braggadocio and selflessness. With a melodic flow and well-polished sound that defies simple subgenre categorisation, ‘Gave Myself’ spells a blazingly bright future for Damola.
Previous singles ‘Glory’, ‘Workflow’, ‘Snoozing’ and this year’s ‘This One’ generated plenty of buzz around Damola - and earned him coveted spots on Spotify’s New Eire playlist, as well as airplay on 98fm, RTE 2fm and RTE Pulse. His diverse approach to his craft has also resulted in lauded collaborations with the likes of Katie Laffan and Local Boy. He was also a member of the BackShed Inc music collective, which also featured Sam Ojo, Ange MC and Ama.
With previous performances at Electric Picnic, Other Voices, Hard Working Class Heroes and Sofar Sounds, as well as an Obie Trice support slot, under his belt, Damola has also earned a reputation for his fiery live shows.
