Here’s hoping they play it during the Pope’s mass.
The song sees the pair rapping about corruption in the country, in which “priests steal sweets from the basket of innocence” and encourage the listener to “party on motherfuckers, because God’s not watching an anymore.”
Bleak Stack, also known as Birdsham and Squawks, are a hip hop duo from the West of Ireland and the pair have been collaborating together since 2017. They plan to release their debut album, Check or Fold, in Autumn 2018.
This is not the first sign of backlash at Pope Francis’ imminent visit. With the ‘Stand for Truth’ Rally and ‘Say Nope to the Pope’ both garnering thousands of likes and attendees on Facebook, it is clear that the country is divided with regards to the visit.
The visit, reportedly costing close to €32 million, takes place this weekend on August 25th and 26th. For those who will not be in attendance, the ‘Stand for Truth’ Rally in support of clerical abuse victims takes place at the same time in the Garden of Remembrance.
