The moving new single will be released on the 25th Anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement.
Irish singer-songwriter Padraig Jack has unveiled his first written and recorded single since his award-nominated 2020 record Making Sand, written in both English and Irish.
New single 'It Could Be Home' is taken from his forthcoming sophomore album, which due to arrive later this year.
Jack– who grew up in a bilingual family in the Aran Islands– explores many Irish cultural themes in his music. He focuses on the upcoming 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement in his forthcoming track.
‘It Could Be Home’ was written by an Irish Gaeilgeoir from Iar Chonnacht who attempts to think from the perspective of an 'Ulster Unionist,' exploring the Northern Irish unionist identity in the context of the entire island. Careful to not generalise the Unionists, the song explores considerations they might have– especially pertinent surrounding contemporary conversations about a potential poll on a United Ireland.
The song invokes reflection on the part of Irish nationalists, compelling listeners to think about what might be going through the minds of these Unionists, weighing the positions they might be in.

Jack was born to a musical family– son of songwriter Barry Ronan and nephew to Irish poet and Aosdána member Mary O’Malley, and takes inspiration from Barry Ronan, Enya, John Spillane, and Peadar Ó Riada. He is proud of his Irish heritage, and seeks to develop his sound in both the English and Irish languages.
"That’s what I’m interested in first and foremost," the performer told Hot Press in 2020, "writing and singing songs in both languages."
