With Pieta facing a devastating financial crisis, Christy Dignam, The 4 Of Us, Joe & Steve Wall & lots more are virtual gigging on Facebook this Saturday
Paddy Casey, Don Mescall, Ryan Sheridan, Pa Sheehy from Walking On Cars, Dan Murphy from Hermitage Green, The Stunning's Joe and Steve Wall, Mal Tuohy from the Riptide Movement, Ross Breen, Ricky O'Neill from The Saw Doctors, The 4 Of Us and Aslan's Christy Dignam, his daughter Kiera and son-in-law Darren are among the artrists participating in this Saturday's Concert Of Hope for Pieta House.
You'll be able to tune in from 5pm-10pm to the live https://www.facebook.com/pietahouse webstream and donate to the centre for the prevention of suicide and self-harm.
With their main Darkness Into Light fundraiser in May postponed, Pieta say their services "are now facing an immediate and devastating financial crisis. More than 80% of our funds come from the public, and we need you to help us today to keep our lifesaving services available to those who need them most, especially during these darkest days."
Along with desperately needed funds to maintain their present level of support for all ages, Pieta are also looking for your solidarity.
"As we will not be walking together this May, Pieta and Electric Ireland would like to invite everyone to show community and solidarity with those impacted by suicide by getting up at 5.30am May 9 to watch the sunrise from their homes," they resume. "Please spread our message and offer hope by wearing a Darkness Into Light t-shirt, or anything yellow, and sharing your sunrise moment using #DILSunriseAppeal #DIL2020."
With many experts predicting a surge in mental health problems as a result of the current situation, the value of organisations like Pieta House cannot be overstated. For the past two years, Hot Press has been proud to partner with them and Lyons Tea on the Now We're Talking: Breaking The Stigma Around Mental Health initiative.
